Our dinnerware has been replaced with crafts these days, but with fall coming up I want to get back to regularly enjoying dinners as a family. I am planning to buy a kid's table specifically for Thea's crafts to transition those because after cooking dinner during the week the last thing I have the energy for is removing all of the items from our dining room table to sit down. We usually eat the island in the kitchen, which only seats two, so one of us stands. It's the fastest way to eat when we are hungry and have used up all of our energy throughout the day. However, we prefer not to live in such a fast-paced way. We love taking our time, listening to music that is on theme with the dinner, and then having that sit-down dinner where we are all together and take our time.

I think it's so important for families to sit down together and really have time to spend talking and enjoying a meal. We live in a fast environment and we want to slow down. In fact, we need to slow down. My inspiration for our table specifically is to make it welcoming, cozy, and inviting for people, even if it's just us, to come stay a while relaxing around good food.

You can style your dining room with dinnerware by combining aesthetics with functionality. Start by choosing a theme or style that resonates with your personal preference. Choose dinnerware that aligns with the theme or style you've chosen. Think through things like color, pattern, material, and shape. For example, if you're going for a rustic look, earthy tones and handcrafted pottery is a great choice. If you're looking for a modern feel, sleek and minimalistic designs work well.
LAYERING
Layering different textures and patterns adds depth to your table. You can mix and match dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, and other pieces to create an interesting look.
POLISH WITH DETAILS

I use candles, especially tapers, that range in different heights to line the center of my table and add dimension.

Honestly, terrible lighting will ruin the mood of your dining room. No one wants to eat in harsh overhead lighting, so lighting plays a crucial role in creating ambiance. FUNCTIONALITY
While aesthetics are important, make sure the table setting is functional. Ensure that there's enough space for plates, glasses, and cutlery and that guests can comfortably reach for items. If a table feels OVER styled, it won't feel inviting because of a fear of messing it up. While styling is important, remember that the dinnerware should be practical for everyday use. Joel and I have these and use them specifically when hosting people, which is all the time. I love having special glasses that my guests can grab to enjoy their drink of choice.

How gorgeous is this black dinner set? I love the imperfect edging and how stark black they are which makes them feel modern and luxurious.
PASTA BOWLS
We added pasta bowls to our dinnerware and it makes all the difference! It really does feel better going to grab the correct bowl for specific foods. I love the organic look of these matte white stoneware pasta bowls.
LONG WOODEN BOWL
You can use wooden elements such as this long wood bowl to line the center of your table with fruit or decorative decor. If you have a circular table, use a pedestal bowl!

ORGANIC DINNER SET
This set is featured in the first photo of this post. I love the organic, imperfect edging. They are thicker than I expected which isn't a negative feature, but something I wanted to mention because sometimes things don't quite translate from the listing photo to seeing them true to scale in person!
MATTE PLATES
One of my favorite dinnerware pieces in our kitchen is our collection of matte plates and bowls. They feel so modern yet organic and cozy. Some modern bowls and plates can feel stiff, so the organic edging of these makes them the perfect aesthetic for our dinners. I use them to serve on, not just eat off of!
